What's new in IOS Rentals v1.8

Users access permissions, extras groups, extras price depending on rental duration and rental start hours, are just a few of the new features incorporated into IOS Rentals 1.8. The new features, along with improvements in user interface, make IOS Rentals one of the best online booking software for rent a car companies. Our demo site has been updated to the latest release. Existing customers can download for free the new version from within IOS Reservations control panel (section Updates).

User roles and access

Since IOS Rentals v1.8 the distinction between Users and Power users is effective. Moreover you can now freely assign permissions to these 2 user roles. For example a Power User might be allowed to manage vehicles while a simple user cannot. These settings can vary from company to company.

Extras groups

Extra services provided by the company on booking time, like child seats, insurance options, etc, can now be organized into groups. There is also the option to enable Single selection on each extras group. With the single selection the customer can select only one of the group's items. For example if you have multiple insurance options and all belong to the same group (Insurances) the customer can select only one of these insurances.

Extras price and rental duration

Extras price can now vary depending on rental duration. Before version 1.8 extras price could vary depending on the season. For example from January 1 to March 31 price 10 EUR, from April 1 to June 30 price 15 EUR, etc. Since IOS Rentals 1.8 extras price can also vary depending on rental duration and this is effective also in seasons settings. So now you can set that from January 1 to March 31 the price 10 EUR for rentals up to 5 days but 8 EUR for rentals from 6 days and up.

Rental start hours

In company settings you can set how many hours after the the current time the customer is allowed to start a reservation and request car pickup. The option has values from 0 to 20 hours and by default is 0. This feature released as experimental although it was tested enough because there might be a settings combination, like the avoid night pickup option, which might generate a problem in selection of pickup date and time. So, before using it please test it and report back to us any problem may arise.

Other changes

• Stick data-action buttons on top when you scroll down a page.
• Deletion of a group with future rentals is not allowed anymore.
• Deletion of a model with future rentals is not allowed anymore.
• Deletion of a vehicle with future rentals is not allowed anymore.
• Multiple selection of non-available vehicles
• You can now edit not available vehicles
• You can now delete multiple reservations at once
• New New round prices option in API plugin: Round prices with decimals
• User's preferences in separate page in companies control panel
• User's preferences: Added option to define Preserve prices ON or OFF by default when editing a reservation.
• Microdata in Client Fleet page.
• In availability page stay on the same/selected date after you set/unset availability.
• All users listing page, from all companies, in companies control panel (available only to managers and administrators).
• New company settings option: Option for After Working Hours to charge Pickup+Drop-off, Pickup, or Drop-off.
• New company settings option: Option to display rental or charge duration in PDF invoice
• The API client plugin now displays Charge duration instead of Rental duration in case the rentalduration option is 2 (charge days/hours).
• In API client plugin the reservation is complete message changed in order to note that the reservation is pending in case no online payment has been performed.
